"Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal
with the intent of throwing it at someone else;
you are the one getting burned."

About the AWB

The Association of World Buddhists was created as a community driven website for anyone who is interested in Buddhism or the associated philosophies. We chose to use webjam to create our community as it provided all of the elements we required to build the website for free while giving us the freedom to allow members to become editors and giving member profiles complete freedom.

The AWB is a voluntary association that is open to everyone free of charge, we are non financial and do not accept donations or monies by any method.

There is no hierarchy or structure to our association, instead it is made up entirely of its members and all members are created equally. Although we do have a few administrative roles such as a webmaster and editor.

You don't have to class yourself as a Buddhist to join, we are independant of any religion, sect, type, or brand of Buddhism, and we welcome everyone. We do not have a particular set of rules, beliefs, term and conditions, rather we aim to be the lowest common denominator of Buddhism. Therefore we try to share a set of values and identity that is equal in all forms of Buddhist philosophy.

"Our only emphasis is on freedom, I started The Association of World Buddhists as a free community, free of hierarchy, structure, financial systems and limitations. All of our members are with us on an equal basis and I hope that the website will reflect this." - Phil Robinson
